The annual commemoration ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Union Ballroom. It will be preceded by a bagpipe procession from the Marriott Library to the Union at 10:30 a.m. Nominations came from across the state and the 11 veterans selected to be honored will receive a commemorative medallion onstage at the ceremony. The Student Veteran of the Year will also be named at the ceremony.
Meet a Vet BBQ
Monday, Nov. 8 | 11:30 a.m.—1 p.m.
FREE for students, staff and faculty to join and have lunch on us. Held on the Marriott Library Plaza, come meet a vet and win some great prizes
Movie Night
Tuesday, Nov. 9 | 7 p.m.
Come join us to watch Good Morning, Vietnam, in the Student Union Theatre. In 1965, an unorthodox and irreverent DJ named Adrian Cronauer (Robin Williams) begins to shake up things when he is assigned to the U.S. Armed Services radio station in Vietnam. FREE for students, staff and faculty – popcorn included.
Identifying America’s Unknown Soldiers
Wednesday, Nov. 10 | noon—1 p.m.
The Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency will virtually present on the existing and evolving DNA technologies to aid in the identification of missing United States service members. This virtual presentation and Q&A session is in partnership with the Hinckley Institute of Politics and can be watched on its YouTube channel.
24th Annual Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony
Thursday, Nov. 11 | 11 a.m.
Eleven Utah veterans and the Student Veteran of the Year will be honored in a full military dress ceremony that includes bagpipe procession, medallion presentation, and cannon salute. This event is free and open to the public to attend. Location: Union Ballroom.
‘Strike’ Up a Conversation with a Vet Bowling Tournament
Friday, Nov. 12 | 12:30—3:30 p.m.
Come ‘strike’ up a conversation with the Student Veterans at the U and compete in the bowling tournament to win a great prize! A donation of $2 is requested but get a dollar off with your Meet a Vet BBQ raffle ticket. All proceeds support the Student Veterans at the U scholarship fund. Location: Union Bowling Alley.
