WGDR plans move to Barre (hardwickgazette.org) — WGDR community radio is relocating from Plainfield to a new studio in Barre's historic Blanchard Block at 14 North Main Street, right by the Barre Opera House and City Hall. The nonprofit says the restored downtown space, leased from Granite City Developers, will become a more visible, community-centered home for its first-floor station and future programming.

School merger study ready to launch in central Vermont (timesargus.com) — Barre families face big questions as a state-mandated study kicks off next week on possibly merging central Vermont school districts, including Barre Unified. The review will look at everything from closing high schools and tuitioning students elsewhere to a major bond for a new Central Vermont Career Center satellite, while Barre's own district prepares a fourth budget vote after three rejections.

Waterbury man facing life sentence with latest drug charge (timesargus.com) — A Washington County court in Barre has ordered a Waterbury man held without bail after new cocaine possession and release‑violation charges triggered a possible life sentence under Vermont's habitual offender law. Police say they found him slumped in a vehicle with suspected cocaine in Waterbury, and note he was already facing separate DUI‑related charges from a January crash in Berlin.
