📰 News we're reading

• Burlington man charged in stabbing of woman in wheelchair (burlingtonfreepress.com) — A Burlington woman using a wheelchair was stabbed in the face on Lake Street near Depot Street in late August, and a 47-year-old Burlington man has now pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault. Police say surveillance video and tips led them to the suspect, who was arrested near his North Street home, while the victim was treated at the hospital and a knife was recovered nearby.

• Burlington Airport holds mock plane crash exercise (wcax.com) — Emergency crews and volunteers converged on Burlington's Patrick Leahy International Airport for a full-scale mock plane crash drill, testing how well first responders and UVM Medical Center handle a mass-casualty crisis. The FAA-required exercise let firefighters, medics, and hospital staff practice communication, triage, and treatment so they're better prepared if a real disaster ever strikes Burlington.

• A Celebration of Life: Sarah O'Sullivan (uvm.edu) — Family, friends, and community members in Burlington are invited to a Celebration of Life for Sarah O'Sullivan on Friday, September 18, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at UVM's Ifshin Hall on Colchester Avenue. Attendees can share memories during the program, and the Grossman School of Business is collecting stories and photos for Sarah's family.
