Act 250 Notice, Minor Application 4c0331 14h-4, 10 V.S.A. §§ 6000 (sevendaysvt.com) — Burlington International Airport and BETA Technologies plan underground utility upgrades and landscaping at their South Burlington campus on Valley Road, with no new buildings or operational changes. Neighbors and other interested residents have until October 21 to request an Act 250 hearing or party status if they want a say in the permit decision.
2. Governor eyes overdose funds for homeless beds in Burlington (vermontdailychronicle.com) — State leaders are weighing whether money earmarked for Burlington's long-delayed overdose prevention center should instead fund a 100-bed emergency homeless shelter as winter approaches. Gov. Phil Scott says he still prefers smaller shelters around Chittenden County but won't block a larger Burlington site if the city can line up a location, staffing, and support.
3. State of Vermont, Superior Court, Probate Division, Chittenden Unit, Docket No. 26-PR-05306 (sevendaysvt.com) — If you're a creditor of the late Robert P. Baccei of South Burlington, you have four months from the first publication on October 7 to file written claims. The estate is being handled through Chittenden Probate Court in Burlington, with contact details provided for the executor handling local paperwork.
4. Vermont Housing and Conservation Board awards funds for housing, land preservation projects (mychamplainvalley.com) — Burlington renters at South Meadow Apartments are set to see major upgrades, with $1.5 million awarded to repair heating, water, and structural issues while permanently preserving 44 units as affordable housing. The same Vermont Housing and Conservation Board round also funds new senior housing in Colchester and mobile home park preservation in Rutland, expanding both housing options and land conservation statewide.
5. South Burlington couple loses home in fast-moving fire (wcax.com) — A South Burlington couple lost their Butler Drive home and nearly all their belongings in a fast-moving fire Wednesday night, escaping with only one phone and their car. Fire crews from South Burlington, Burlington, Williston, the Vermont Air National Guard, and UVM Rescue responded, but high winds and distance to the scene left the house a total loss.
