📰 News we're reading

• The State Parks With Trees Older Than The Country (worldatlas.com) — Gifford Woods State Park in Killington is highlighted as one of just five U.S. state parks protecting old-growth forests with trees older than the nation itself. The piece explains how its 300- to 400-year-old hemlocks and hardwoods survived logging, notes easy access from the Appalachian Trail, and points out that fall foliage from mid-September to mid-October is the most popular time to visit.
