• Newport man charged with assaulting officers after boardwalk fight (newportdispatch.com) — Police say a Newport man was arrested after an alleged fight on the Newport boardwalk led to aggressive behavior toward officers, including spitting and attempts to bite. The 41-year-old faces multiple assault and disorderly conduct charges and was taken first to North Country Hospital, then to Northern State Correctional Facility, with a court appearance scheduled in Orleans District Court.
