With the facility producing far less power, the utility is buying more expensive electricity on the open market while exploring multimillion-dollar repair options that could shape local bills for years.

4. Massachusetts man drove over 100 MPH through Vermont, was detained at Canadian border, police say (mynbc5.com) — A high-speed chase that began in southern Vermont eventually drew in officers from the Swanton Police Department as a Massachusetts driver reportedly sped north toward Canada. Troopers and Swanton officers couldn’t safely stop the vehicle, but Canadian authorities detained the driver at the Highgate Port of Entry, where he was refused entry and turned over to Vermont State Police on multiple charges.
