Michaels on the Hill shutters after two decades (waterburyroundabout.org) — A beloved Waterbury Center landmark, Michaels on the Hill has closed after more than 20 years, with its historic farmhouse now listed for sale. Owners cite tough economics and a lack of affordable worker housing, a problem many Waterbury businesses face. Local nonprofit Revitalizing Waterbury is surveying employers about workforce housing needs to guide future solutions.

2. Name change in store for Revitalizing Waterbury; annual meeting honors Katya d'Angelo (waterburyroundabout.org) — Waterbury’s longtime community and economic development group, Revitalizing Waterbury, is moving toward a new name: “Discover Waterbury,” reflecting its focus on tourism and community engagement. At its April 7 annual meeting at The Old Stagecoach Inn, members nearly unanimously backed the change and heard updates on downtown projects, public art, and future initiatives.

3. Town of Waterbury Notice of Vacancies: Town Treasurer & Town Clerk (waterburyroundabout.org) — Waterbury’s Selectboard has announced a vacancy for Town Clerk and is seeking letters of interest from local residents by May 1, 2026. The appointee will serve until voters choose otherwise, and residents also retain the right to petition for a special election under Vermont law.

4. Berlin Barracks // Domestic Assault (blogspot.com) — Vermont State Police report that a 30-year-old Waterbury resident was arrested on a domestic assault charge Thursday evening on Spruce Haven Road. The accused was processed at the Berlin Barracks, held on $250 bail, and ordered to appear in Washington County Superior Court today. The victim’s identity is being withheld under state policy.
