2016 PGA of America National Award Winner Steve Greiner Honored at the 100th PGA Annual Meeting
Recipients recognized for career accomplishments at the Grand Hyatt in New York City

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.– PGA Patriot Award Winner Steve Greiner headlined an impressive contingent of PGA of America National Award recipients who were honored at the 100th PGA Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. The event was emceed by Golf Channel Host Dave Marr III.
Greiner, of Arlington, Virginia, the PGA Executive Director of Links to Freedom, is the recipient of the 2016 PGA Patriot Award, in recognition of his personification of patriotism through the game of golf. In 2008, as PGA Head Professional at Fort Belvoir Golf Club, Greiner began a Wounded Warrior golf program, which became a PGA best practices program. Since then, it has served Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the U.S. Army AW2 (Wounded Warrior) Program, the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Belvoir and the Warrior Transition Brigade. The program assists in the physical, mental, and emotional rehabilitation of U.S. Service personnel wounded, injured or taken ill while on active duty. He later expanded the program by including disabled Veterans, their family members and the families of those killed in action. Backed by the support of PGA REACH, Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Disabled Sports USA, Divots Sportswear, National Alliance for Accessible Golf and others, the program has helped more than 1,100 Veterans and their families since its inception. In 2014, Greiner was named the Middle Atlantic PGA Section Player Development Award recipient and was the Section’s 2006 PGA Assistant Professional of the Year. His new Links to Freedom program has enabled him to launch a program at Joint Base Andrews and will be the vehicle to assist other initiatives.
