• Renovations begin this fall at seven Fairfax County playgrounds (ffxnow.com) — Playground renovations at Lincolnia Park in Lincolnia will close the play area this fall as Fairfax County upgrades equipment for better accessibility and safety. Several other county playgrounds are also being improved, funded largely by park bonds, and most work should wrap up by December, with residents able to track construction closures online.
   

• Paintings celebrate Mason District (annandaletoday.com) — Mason District’s government offices are showcasing new paintings that celebrate local landmarks and everyday life, created by longtime resident and artist Todd Crespi. He plans more scenes, including a whimsical image of President Lincoln in Lincolnia on Beauregard Street, further spotlighting neighborhoods familiar to Lincolnia and nearby residents.
   

• Southbound I-395 in Alexandria Reopens After Deadly Monday Night Crash Near Duke Street, With Virginia State Police Investigating the Fatal Wreck and No Identity Released (parktelegraph.com) — A deadly crash shut down southbound I-395 near Duke Street Monday night, affecting many Lincolnia-area commuters before lanes were reopened later that evening. Virginia State Police are investigating the fatal wreck, have not released the victim’s identity, and have yet to explain what caused the collision on this busy Northern Virginia corridor.
