Annandale High Boys Track Wins at VHSL State Outdoor Championships

The Atoms tied with Grassfield for first place with a total of 44 points overall.

's boys track team placed first at the 2012 Virginia High School League State AAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Richmond last Saturday. The Atoms tied with Grassfield for first place with a total of 44 points overall.

Annandale placed first in the Boys 4x100 Meter Relay composed of Ellison and seniors Dylan Van Balen, Roland Andoh and Walter Manlan. The team beat Forest Park by two seconds at 41.59.

Junior Alex Ellison placed second in the Boys 200 Meter Dash with a time of 21.60 and he placed third in the Boys 100 Meter Dash with a time of 10.55.

Senior Ahmed Bile beat out Oakton High School’s Michael McNamee and Westfield’s Tyrone Walker and Nathan Kiley to place first in the Boys 800 Meter Run with a time of  1:51.52 . Bile also won the Boys 1600 Meter Run with a time of 4:13.12.

Annandale placed fifth overall during last year’s championships with a total of 24 points.

On the girls side, ’s senior Katherine Sheridan placed 14th in the Girls 1600 Meter Run. For Jefferson Boys, senior Chris Rom placed 19th in the Boys 3200 Meter Run.
