ANNANDALE, VA — Sometimes an impulse buy isn't a decision you'll regret. An Annandale man certainly didn't regret the decision to buy Powerball tickets for the July 27 drawing, because it won him $1 million.

Sergey Kocharov was buying groceries at Harris Teeter, 6351 Columbia Pike, Falls Church, when the Powerball sign caught his eye. So he bought five tickets using computer-generated numbers. Those first five numbers on one ticket matched the numbers from that night's Powerball drawing.

"I was surprised," he told the Virginia Lottery. "I always hear about jackpot wins. It feels great!"

Kocharov was one of three nationwide and the only one in Virginia to match the first five numbers in the July 27 Powerball drawing. The winning numbers were 1-19-31-48-61, and the Powerball number was 6. Kocharov's win also resulted in a $10,000 bonus for the Harris Teeter store for selling the winning ticket.

There was no word on what he plans to do with his winnings.
