Annandale Man Thought Lottery Prize Was $600, Wins $1 Million Instead
An Annandale man was happy when he thought his lottery ticket won $600. Imagine his surprise when he found out the ticket won $1 million.

ANNANDALE, VA — Jose Flores Velasquez of Annandale was happy with winning $600 when he went to redeem his lottery ticket at the Virginia Lottery center in Woodbridge. But it turns out the ticket was worth a lot more: $1 million.
The Annandale man won $1 million in the 20X the Money game. This was the second top prize claimed in the game, and one top prize remains unclaimed.
The winning ticket was bought at Safeway on Little River Turnpike in Annandale, where Vazquez stopped after work to pick up soft drinks. The store is getting a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

With the $1 million prize, Vazquez had the choice of taking $1 million over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $759,878 before taxes. He chose the one-time prize.
It's a good thing the ticket was worth more than $600, because Vazquez will use the winnings to take care of family and possible start a business.
