Annandale Seniors Finish Season on a High Note
Senior Jenkins scores four touchdowns in win over West Potomac
The Annandale Atoms wanted to end their disappointing season on a high note. They did just that with a 41-31 victory over West Potomac Friday night.
The victory leaves Annandale with a 4-6 record on the season with a 4-2 District record.
Atoms senior J.P. Jenkins did it all for Annandale, finishing with his best game this season against a playoff team.

Jenkins gained 154 yards on 21 carries and scored three touchdowns. He also scored another touchdown on a 20-yard reception in the second quarter.
"That was the way to do it on the big stage, on senior night," said Jenkins. "I give big ups to my offensive line. Without them, this wouldn't even be possible."

No touchdown was bigger for Jenkins than the 10-yard touchdown he ran for in the fourth quarter to put the Atoms up 34-24 with nine minutes left.
Following an interception return to West Potomac's 10-yard line by senior Ian Griffin, Jenkins scored on the next play to seal the game for Annandale.
"It felt good," Griffin said of the interception. "But disappointing at the same time, because I didn't make it [to the end zone]."
Atoms Coach Mike Scott can rest assured knowing that his team fought through the entire season, one that was filled with disappointment considering the fact that the Atoms would be 6-4 if not for them having to forfeit the first three games of the season.
"This was our playoff game," Scott said. "Our kids played hard all year long and stepped up tonight against a really good West Potomac team."
Coach Scott came into the game with the plan of keeping the ball out of the hands of Dimitrijevic and it worked.
Annandale ran the ball at the Wolverines all night long and it proved to be effective, preventing Dimitrijevic from really getting into a rhythm. The Atoms forced Dimitrijevic into a fumble and interception and only gave up one touchdown through the air to the Wolverines senior.
"We're going to come back and work harder next year," Scott said. "We wanted to send [the seniors] out winners. They never quit and they never laid down. It's about our seniors tonight."
