Annandale Woman Dies of Likely Drug Overdose in Maryland: Police

Two people likely overdosed on a drug near a community center, authorities said.

An Annandale woman who died following an apparent drug overdose at Hillcrest Heights Community Center in Oxon Hill, Md. (see map below) has been identified Thursday by authorities.

Police say Christine Szabo, 29, of Annandale, was found about 7: 30 p.m. Wednesday when Maryland-National Capital Park Police and Prince George’s County fire department personnel responded to the park following a 911 call. They arrived to find Szabo and a man inside the park, both of whom were unresponsive.

The victims were taken to the United Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where Szabo was pronounced dead and the man remains in critical condition.

Detectives continue to work to identify the other victim, and to investigate the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the incident.

Police have not said what substance the users may have overdosed on, or if charges are likely to be filed.
