Drunk Man Causes Havoc At Medical Emergency Scene

Officers responding to the scene of an overdose in Annandale instead had to deal with a drunk bystander.

ANNANDALE, VA—A drunk man was arrested after disrupting the scene of an overdose in Annandale over the weekend. Officers at the scene were able to handle him as medics did their job, but it wasn't easy to get him into custody.

Police were dispatched to the 7800 block of Heritage Road on Saturday, Jan. 6 around 2:50 p.m. Medics were loading loading the patient into the ambulance when a man approached and began causing a scene.

Officers attempted to handcuff the suspect, tase him and take him to the ground. While on the ground, the suspect tried to grab an officer's gun twice. The officers eventually got him into handcuffs.

Yojan Lopez, 24, was arrested and and charged with drunk in public, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. No officers were injured.
