DWI Crackdown: Six Arrested In Annandale: Police

Police say a DWI checkpoint resulted in six arrests over the weekend in Annandale.

ANNANDALE, VA—Annandale was the location of the West Springfield District DWI checkpoint on Saturday. The DWI crackdown in Annandale resulted in six arrests at Wakefield Chapel Road and Bromley Court.

Police say 181 cars in all passed through the checkpoint between 10 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, Sept. 9.

When Fairfax County Police conduct checkpoints, hundred of drivers pass through and are screened for alcohol use. Last year, 1,980 people were charged with driving under the influence in Fairfax County. That's an increase of over 100 from the previous year.

Police do not reveal exact locations of the checkpoints ahead of time but remind residents to not drink and drive. In Virginia, the legal limit of blood alcohol concentration is 0.08 percent.
