Fairfax Library Foundation Awards Continuing Education Scholarships
Fairfax Library Foundation has awarded Continuing Education Scholarships to three Fairfax County Public Library employees and volunteers.
Fairfax, VA – Fairfax Library Foundation is proud to award three Continuing Education Scholarships to Fairfax County Public Library employees and volunteers. Fairfax Library Foundation is pleased to offer these scholarships to help underwrite the costs of conferences, classes, courses, and events that foster the professional development of the library team. The Foundation greatly appreciates the support of the Friends of the Pohick Regional Library for making generous contributions to help fund scholarship awards.
Congratulations to the following awardees:
Matthew Moffett, Assistant Branch Manager at Burke Centre Library, received a scholarship to cover the costs of attending the American Library Association Annual Conference.

Gail Wellock, Youth Services Information Assistant at Chantilly Library, was awarded a scholarship to help pay for two classes with the American Library Association. These classes were “Reaching Every Patron: Creating Outreach to Patrons of All Abilities,” and “Next Chapter Book club Orientation: Book Club For Individuals with Developmental Abilities.”
Laura Wickstead, Virginia Room Librarian, received a scholarship to attend “Ensuring Access: Archives and Records 2014.”

It takes the collective contributions of individuals, businesses, and organizations, to support the Foundation’s sponsorship of multiple Fairfax County Public Library programs and services including eBooks, Changing Lives Through Literature, Fall for the Book, Scholarship Fund, the library’s Summer Reading Program, the Book Club Conference, and Ready to Read Early Literacy Outreach.
Fairfax Library Foundation is a nonprofit corporation committed to providing supplementary support to the Fairfax County Public Library. The Foundation, while reinforcing the need for continued and increased public support for the Library, serves as a catalyst for attracting private funding from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations to enhance library services for our community.
