Fairfax Police Investigate 'Suspicious' Activity in Annandale

An Annandale woman woke up to find a man in her apartment and called police

Fairfax County police responded to what they're calling a "suspicious event" at 4100 Wadsworth Court shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18 when a 25-year-old woman reported that she woke up to a man standing over her bed, with his hands around her neck.

According to a news release, after the woman woke up and saw the man, she screamed and the suspect fled out her open bedroom window. It is not clear whether the window was open prior to the suspect entering her bedroom.

"Right now the detectives have not spoken to the victim, so we're not sure about the intent at all or details about the case," said Don Gotthardt, public information officer with the Fairfax County Police Department.

The woman was not injured and she did not see the suspect with a weapon nor was one implied. Police helicopters and a K-9 team search the area for about an hour searching for the suspect.

The suspect is described as black, in his late 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, and approximately 160 pounds. He wore dark clothing.
