FairfaxCounty.gov Seeks Homepage Redesign Input

Most clicks from the homepage of the county's website go to jobs, real estate assessment information.

Fairfax County officials are seeking input on how to redesign the FairfaxCounty.gov homepage. The redesign is meant to give web users a more responsive, better homepage experience.

There is a short pdf-based presentation to look at and comment on to provide your feedback. The presentation includes “heat maps” that tell designers where on the page people spend the most time looking and data on homepage use.

Data tracking revealed that more than three-quarters of clicks from the homepage go to just 29 links, out of 114 links on the page. The top destinations from the home page include the pages on real estate assessments and available jobs. Designers hope to reduce visual clutter and the number of links available from the homepage.
