Family Argument Results in Gunfire, 2 Dead in Annandale: Police

Hiep Van Le is accused of shooting his own daughter and son-in-law after a dispute that turned violent.

Fairfax County Police have arrested a man who they say gunned down his daughter and son-in-law after an argument at a home in Annandale on Wednesday.

Police swarmed the 3400 block of Beverly Drive in the afternoon June 8 and ordered neighbors to shelter in place after they say 67-year-old Hiep Van Le shot his 45-year-old son-in-law Dang Ngo and 40-year-old daughter Sophia Le to death after an argument, according to a Fairfax County Police Department statement.

Initially, only Ngo died in the violent confrontation. However, Sophia Le later succumbed to her injuries after being taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Police said said that an argument between Hiep Van Le and Dang Ngo escalated, prompting Sophia Le to get involved. Hiep Van Le "displayed a gun, fired rounds and wounded both family members," the statement noted.

Ngo was struck and killed outside of the house, while Sophia Le was struck inside of the house. Another family member inside called the police.

Police immediately set up a perimeter, and then entered the home to find Sophia Le critically injured. They also found the Hiep Van Le inside and took him into custody.

Police also found three children in the home -- two young girls and a teenage boy -- who were uninjured. All of the parties involved lived in the home.

Hiep Van Le is currently at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center facing two counts of second-degree murder.
