FJ Medina and Son Brightens Annandale's Markets
Found at both of Annandale's Farmers Markets, FJ Medina and Son offers a bright display with a variety of produce.
Francisco Medina has been working at Farmers Markets in Fairfax County since he was a kid.
FJ Medina & Son Farm is owned and operated by Francisco Medina with the help of his wife and daughter. It is one of the few vendors that you can find at both Wakefield and Annandale Market, and are cousins of fellow Annandale Market vendor Westmoreland Produce.
Medina learned about farming from his father, who passed away in 2006 from pancreatic cancer.

“Farming is what my family has been doing since I was a kid. My dad was a migrant worker, and he started growing and selling vegetables in the early 90s,” Medina said, “I helped him out with farmers markets since I was a kid."
At FJ Medina & Son Farm’s booth, you will find a very bright, colorful display of vegetables and melons. “I try to grow a good variety of products that look appealing and catch the eye,” Medina said. “I like growing my vegetables. I get pleasure out of growing and selling fresh produce.” Some of the vegetables that they have to offer include tomatoes and cherry tomatoes, several varieties of squash and zucchini, cucumbers, melons, and corn.

His customers appreciate Medina’s passion for growing produce as well. Catherine Pino, a regular at Annandale Market, said, “I like to support Latino owned vendors. The Medinas are wonderful. They always help me pick out a good watermelon.”
Barbara Allen, one of Medina’s regulars at Wakefield Market, said, “FJ Medina & Son have a wonderful selection of tomatoes and vegetables.”
If you are on Facebook, FJ Medina & Son has a very active page, where they post pictures of their farm and answer customer questions on their wall. Customer Ronni Hadley Warton wrote on their page, “I am a regular at your stand at the Wakefield farmers market. Today I purchased four ears of sweet corn and my family fought over them! The best sweet corn that I have had since leaving Indiana! I am making a special trip to Annandale in the morning to get some more!”
If you cannot make it to one of Annandale’s two farmers markets, you can find FJ Medina & Son Farm at McLean Market on Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. On Saturdays they are at both Dale City Market and West End Farmers Market in Alexandria. If you have any questions, you can visit their Facebook page or email them at fjmedinafarm@gmail.com.
