Photos: Colonials Win Liberty District Cross Country Championship
Both the boys and girls cross country teams took first place on Thursday
The Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology boys and girls cross country teams are district champions after winning top honors at the Liberty District Cross Country Championships at Burke Lake Park on Thursday.
Overall, the girls cross country team came in first place ahead of James Madision High School and McLean High School. Senior Katherine Sheridan placed first with a time of 18:26. Senior Taylor Refett placed third with a time of 19:00. Grace Zeng and senior Sarah Nielsen placed fifth and six, respectively.
For the boys, senior Michael Wattendorf came in third with a time of 16:07 followed by fellow and senior Colonial Chris Rom, who placed fourth, with a time of 16:13. Junior Dan Matson, senior Andrew O'Shea, and senior Jacob Zucker rounded out the top 10 and claimed eight, ninth, and tenth places, respectively.

Both teams will compete next week at the Regional Championships on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Burke Lake Park.
