Lincolnia Area BB&T Bank Robbed

Fairfax County police are looking for the suspect.

The BB&T bank at 6244 Little River Turnpike in the Lincolnia area of Alexandria was robbed on Friday, according to Fairfax County police.

A news release from the police states that a man entered the bank around 2:10 p.m. and demanded money from a teller. The man left the bank before the teller could comply. There were no injuries.

A customer at the Barnside Diner e-mailed Patch shortly after 3 p.m. and reported a heavy police presence in the area. Patrons were not allowed to leave the diner or nearby locations until the area was swept and secured by police.

Police are describing the susect as a thin, white male around 6 feet tall wearing a black shirt, black shorts and a light blue baseball hat.

Eddie Azcarate, public information officer with the Fairfax County Police Department, said although the man was unsuccessful in his attempt to rob the bank, it still counts as a robbery in the eyes of the law. "If caught, the suspect would serve the same amount of time for an attempted robbery as he would for a robbery," said Azcarate.
