Man Headbutts Cop After Being Pulled Over

LINCOLNIA, VA—A man pulled over by Fairfax County Police early Thursday tried to headbutt his way out of an arrest to no avail.

Around 1:10 a.m., police pulled over the suspect's car in the 4900 block of Oasis Drive in Lincolnia.

The officer smelled marijuana in the car and proceeded to search the driver and passenger. The suspect, who was the passenger, tried to escape unsuccessfully.

Dewey Carpenter, 22, of Miami was arrested, police found drugs on him during a search. When police attempted to put him in the cruiser, he again tried to escape—by headbutting an officer.

Police also found a gun and over $10,000 in cash while searching the car. Carpenter is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a firearm with a narcotic, attempt to flee from a law enforcement officer, assault on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
