A Michigan man won the $2,777,777 top prize in the Virginia Lottery's Lucky 7s Cash Blowout game after buying a ticket in Annandale.

ANNANDALE, VA — A Michigan man won the $2,777,777 top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Lucky 7s Cash Blowout game after buying a ticket in Annandale.
“I just got real lucky,” Erik Lee of Nunica, Michigan, told Virginia Lottery officials.
Lee was in Annandale on a work trip when he bought the winning ticket at Express 1 Food Mart at 4713 Backlick Road.

“I didn’t realize it at first,” he said. “I went from confusion to realization.”
His ticket is the third and final top prize claimed in Lucky 7s Cash Blowout, which means the game is closed, the Virginia Lottery said. It is the lottery’s policy to end scratcher games after the last top prize is claimed.

Lee had the choice of either taking the $2,777,777 prize in annual payments over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $1,671,346 before taxes. He chose the cash option.
The odds of winning that top prize in this game were 1 in 979,200, while the odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.11.
