Update: Chantilly Man Dies, Manassas Man Charged in Annandale-Area Crash

Update 10:50 a.m.

Virginia State Police have identified Javed Hussaini, 25, of Manassas, as the driver involved in Thursday morning’s crash at I-395 and Route 236. Police have determined that alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, which killed a Chantilly man.

The VSP said Hussaini was traveling through the I-395 southbound ramp when his Audi A8 ran off the road, spun around and struck a tree. The car struck the tree hard enough to split it in half and cause it to jump over the guardrail and land on the 3B (Little River Turnpike) exit ramp. The two passengers in the back seat were ejected from the vehicle.

A. Tawab Ebadi, 25, of Chantilly, one of the back seat passengers, died at the scene. The other passengers in the vehicle, Ilyas Qualandri, 23, of Springfield, and Fernanda Ferrufino, 23, of Alexandria, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Hussaini was transported to Fairfax Inova Hospital and then to the Alexandria Adult Detention Center. He has been charged with DUI-related manslaughter.

Police said the scene was cleared and lanes re-opened by 8:55 a.m. on Thursday.

The crash is still under investigation.

A single-car crash at 2:41 a.m. Thursday on the southbound ramp from Interstate 395 to westbound Route 236 (Little River Turnpike) has left one person dead, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash on exit 3B sent three others to the hospital, according to Corinne Geller, public relations director for VSP. The three were transported to Inova Hospital in Fairfax.

No lanes are closed to traffic. Police are still investigating the crash and have not identified anyone from it.
