Penny Gross Wins Re-election With 57 Percent of the Vote

After fending off a challenger in the Democratic primary, Gross then had to contend with an independent candidate running for her seat.

Longtime Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross fought off a challenge by an independent candidate in Tuesday’s election, taking home 57 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the State Board of Elections.

Gross will continue to represent the area on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Gross won 9,196 votes or 57.22 percent of the vote to challenger Mollie Loeffler’s 6,785 votes or 42.22 percent of the vote Tuesday.

More news from the Mason District front: Ellie Ashford, editor of the Annandale Blog, said she was evicted from Gross’ campaign headquarters Tuesday night. “I walked into Penny Gross’ HQ in Annandale at about 8 p.m., didn’t talk to anyone,” she replied in an email, in response to a question about the incident, to Patch.

“Jake Rubenstein, Penny’s campaign manager, immediately told me to leave,” she said. “Said it was a ‘private party‘ on ‘private property.’”

“What makes this even more absurd - I am currently a member of the Mason District Democratic Committee,” Ashford noted.

Annandale Blog tweeted about the incident earlier Tuesday night:
