Plumber's Tool Ignites Annandale Two-Alarm Fire
Two people were displaced after a plumbing torch ignited the wall of their Annandale home.

ANNANDALE, VA—Two residents are displaced after a plumbing torch ignited their home in Annandale Friday, July 7.
Around 2:28 p.m., units from Fairfax County City of Fairfax units responded to the fire at the 3800 block of King Arthur Road. The three-story home had smoke visible from the roof, and it took multiple fire hoses to put out the fire.

One of the residents was home and alerted to smoke. She was able to escape safely. The smoke alarms did not initially go off because the fire was concealed in the walls and attic. No one was injured.
Fire investigators found the blaze started on an outside wall from the use of a plumbing torch that ignited the wall. The incident was deemed an accident. Damages are estimated at about $60,000.
