Teen Arrested After Man Set On Fire In Annandale
Police have arrested one suspect after a man had been set on fire in Annandale Sunday.

ANNANDALE, VA — Police have arrested one teenage suspect after a 47-year-old Fairfax County was lit on fire while sleeping in Annandale Sunday. A 14-year-old teen is facing attempted robbery and malicious wounding charges.
The first suspect has been taken to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center, and police are trying to identify additional suspects.
Officers responded to the 4500 block of Commons Drive, just east of Wakefield Park. A resident reported a group of five to six men burning the victim around 2:20 p.m. Investigations revealed a group of teens intended to steal the victim's backpack. The victim was sleeping and awoke when the group set his backpack on fire. Police told WTOP the thieves were using fire to cut the straps or burn the straps to steal the backpack.

Police found the victim with burns on his clothes and backpack. The victim has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released.
Police chased down and detained two people and are searching for three more. The two detained people have been interviewed.
