Police Identify Homicide Victim in Annandale

Homicide detectives identified the deceased in the April 2 homicide in Annandale as Jose Ramirez Guardado, 36, according to a news release Monday from Fairfax County Police.

An investigation last week by Fairfax County Police led to a murder charge against Ubaldo Lopez Yanez, 31, with no fixed address, in connection with the death investigation in Annandale, police said Friday morning.

Police have said they believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

Preliminary information suggests that both the victim and suspect were homeless men using an unoccupied apartment, FCPD said in a news release last week.

Police were called Thursday afternoon, at about 3:21 p.m., to the 4200 block of Wadsworth Court, for a report of an unresponsive male. Officers located a deceased adult male with trauma to the upper body.
