Police Investigating Homicide of Woman, 56, in Annandale

Police say that a man found at the same address is at a hospital in life-threatening condition and is a suspect in the woman's death.

ANNANDALE, VA — Fairfax County Police say that Kum Yeon, 56, a woman from Alexandria, was found dead Monday afternoon at a home located on Pennys Town Court in Annandale (see map below).

Police say the death wasĀ a homicide.

Police did not say if she is from the City of Alexandria or from an Alexandria mailing address in Fairfax County.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to a home in the 7100 block of Pennys Town Court to check on the welfare of an adult female, according to police.

Officers arrived and began to check the home. Through a basement window, they saw what appeared to be an adult male and an adult female, collapsed on the floor, police said.

Yeon was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The 73-year-old male, of the Pennys Town Court address, was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition, according to police.

Police say the man is considered a suspect in this case. The preliminary investigation determined that electricity might have been used to cause the death but the actual cause and manner will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. There is no apparent threat to public safety and detectives believe that the victim and suspect were known to each other.

Fairfax County Police are investigating a death in Annandale according to a social media post by police. The investigation is on Pennys Town Court, off of Daniels Avenue and not far from Columbia Pike (see map below).

Detectives were called to the scene; police said there was no threat to the public.
