Police Say Suspect, 16, Struck Up Conversation, Then Grabbed Victim's Phone

Incident took place Tuesday on Backlick Road; the teen, police say, engaged the victim in conversation before taking phone by force.

Fairfax County Police say a teenager forcibly grabbed a pedestrian’s phone yesterday afternoon after striking up a conversation. Here’s the information from today’s crime report:

ROBBERY WITH APPREHENSION, 4400 block of Backlick Road, 09/15/15 at 12:06 p.m. The victim was walking and was approached by a man. The man engaged the victim in conversation and took the victim’s phone by force. The suspect fled and was located by responding officers. Petitions for the 16-year-old male suspect are pending. The victim did not require medical attention.
