Resident Hospitalized After Annandale Townhouse Fire
The resident was rescued from the second floor of the home Sunday night, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

ANNANDALE, VA — A person was sent to the hospital during a fire in Annandale Sunday night, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
Around 9:27 p.m., Fairfax County and Alexandria units responded to a townhouse in the 4500 block of Airlie Way. Units found fire visible from the second floor of the middle-unit home and received a report of a person trapped. Four residents were home when the fire broke out, and a resident unsuccessfully tried to rescue the trapped resident.
Firefighters found and rescued the resident on the second floor. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. There were no reported injuries to firefighters.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Five people were displaced and accepted Red Cross assistance. The fire department estimated damages were around $20,000.
