Skeletal Remains Discovered Off of I-395 Near Duke Street

The body is too decomposed to determine gender, according to the Virginia State Police.

A construction crew discovered the skeletal remains of a body near Interstate 395 northbound to Duke Street on Monday.

According to Corinne Geller, public relations director for Virginia State Police (VSP), the body was found by the crew while they were working in the area near exit 3A. The VSP were alerted to the discovery at 11:12 a.m.

A release from the VSP states that the body is too decomposed to determine whether the body is male or female. No identification was found with the body, which was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas.

The area where the body was found, which is “heavily-wooded,” reportedly has evidence of homeless encampments.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Fairfax Field Office is looking into the incident.
