GREAT FALLS, VA—Police have determined that speed and alcohol contributed to the fatal crash in Great Falls involving an Annandale driver back in September 2017.

The driver, Benjamin Wenger, 26, of Annandale, and a passenger, 23-year-old Abigail Ryan, of Great Falls, were pronounced on scene of the Sept. 16, 2017 crash. Another passenger, a 15-year-old girl, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened in the 10500 block of Beach Mill Road near Springvale Road. Police say the car was heading west on Beach Mill Road when it veered off the road in the northbound direction, then crossed back over heading south before striking a tree.
