St. Alban's Muldoon Concert Series: A Trio of Delight

Free concert by three National Symphony Orchestra performers

Three renowned National Symphony Orchestra performers – harpist Adriana Horne, violinist Marissa Regni , and flautist Alice Weinreb - will bring their talent to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church on Columbia Pike on Sunday, Dec. 13, 4:00 pm. Their program includes pieces by Bach, Saint-Saens, Bartok, Godefroid, and Dinicu. Bach’s Sonata in Gm features flute and harp; the Saint-Saens’ duo is for violin and harp; and the Bartok duos are for flute and violin. Godefroid (19th C Belgian known as the “Paganini of the harp”) composed “La Danse des Sylphes” for harp solo. Romanian violin virtuoso Dinicu’s “Hora Staccato” – originally a violin solo for his graduation from Bucharest Conservatory in 1906 -will be performed in a trio arrangement.

Adriana Horne is the Principal Harpist for the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. In addition to her orchestral work, Adriana is an active soloist and has won awards in several national competitions. Alice Kogan Weinreb, flute, joined the National Symphony Orchestra, under music director Mstislav Rostropovich, in 1979. A dedicated and highly sought-after teacher, she is on the faculty of The Catholic University of America and teaches in the National Symphony Youth Fellowship program. Marissa Regni is Principal Second Violin of the National Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Regni is a member of the critically acclaimed Manchester String Quartet, and is a founding member of the Kennedy Center Chamber Players.
