Dominant Serving Helps Atoms Sweep West Potomac
Annandale controlled the ball throughout Tuesday's game

Annandale High's volleyball team kept finding new ways to win during its 3-0 sweep of West Potomac on Tuesday.
With the first game tied at 13, Annandale's home gym helped them pull away from West Potomac as the Wolverines struggled with the low ceiling. The Wolverines committed repeated ceiling errors and the Atoms scored 12 consecutive points to take the game.
"This gym is horrible. I can't see that they even have home field advantage, we're both struggling," West Potomac Coach Rebecca Waters said. "They didn't look ready to deal with it."

The Atoms went on another huge run in the second game. Thanks to dominant scoring from senior Allison Warth, Grace Franje and Stephanie Shultis, Annandale outscored West Potomac 19-1 the rest of the way to grab a stranglehold of the match.
"I felt that we had a lot of intensity in the beginning of each round. We just need to keep it up," said West Potomac captain Angela Robinson.

The third and final game was a mirror image of the first. After tying it up at 16, the Wolverines were trapped by the restrictive confines of the ceiling again and wouldn't score the rest of the match.
"They played a hard game but it takes them a while to get into the game, and unfortunately, we don't have that time," Waters said.
The Atoms are now 4-8 on the year and will travel to Alexandria to take on the T.C. Williams Titans on Thursday.
