Wolf Trap to Offer Free Children's Enrichment Classes at Annandale Library
Space is limited, registration is required. Classes coming up in Annandale, Burke, Centreville, Falls Church, Fort Hunt, McLean, Oakton.
Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts will offer local families free Artsplay! and Baby Artsplay! classes through the Fairfax County Public Library system beginning this October. Through these early childhood classes, children learn and play through music, movement, and drama activities that promote language and literacy skills, while caregivers discover learning strategies that can be incorporated throughout children’s daily routine.
Five-session courses are offered throughout the school year at several Fairfax County Public Library branches. These courses will engage young children through exercises in motor skills, coordination, rhythmic play, singing and instrumental music, as well as imaginary travel and role-playing. Facilitated by Wolf Trap’s expert teaching artists,Artsplay! (ages 4-5) and Baby Artsplay! (ages 3 and under) are designed to:
- Support children’s multi-sensory learning styles, sense of discovery, and innate curiosity.
- Stimulate children’s vocalizations and language.
- Use steady beat as a tool to assist children in focusing and self-regulation.
- Offer children the opportunity to experience a variety of music tempos and movement qualities.
- Encourage children’s social emotional skills.
- Provide experiences that stimulate children to make connections to their world and environment.
- Promote early literacy and vocabulary.
