Arlington Civitan Flea Market Marks 40 Years With Saturday Sale

ARLINGTON, VA — Bargain hunters will have more than 150 vendors to browse Saturday when the Arlington Civitan Open Air Flea Market returns for its Labor Day weekend sale.

About 1,500 shoppers typically attend the market, which will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, inside the covered I-66 Parking Garage next to Washington-Liberty High School, according to the Arlington Civitan Club.

Vendors will offer furniture, household goods, antiques, vintage collectibles, artwork, jewelry, books, tools, toys, clothing, vinyl records and sports memorabilia, among other items. Admission and parking are free, and the market will be held rain or shine.

Arlington Flea Market Celebrates 40th Anniversary

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the flea market, which began in 1986 as a partnership between the Arlington Civitan Club and Arlington County to give residents a central place to sell and recycle used goods.

When the market opened four decades ago, shoppers paid 25 cents for admission. Admission is now free.

The flea market has grown into the Arlington Civitan Club's largest fundraiser. Proceeds from vendor spaces and other market activities support charitable causes, including organizations serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The market generally takes place on the first Saturday of the month, with the vendors and available merchandise changing from one sale to the next. Organizers said shoppers arriving early tend to have the widest selection, while vendors may be more willing to negotiate as closing time approaches.

Saturday's market will be held at the I-66 Parking Garage at 15th Street North and North Stafford Street. Most vendors will be inside the covered garage.

Two flea markets will remain after Saturday during the 2026 season: Oct. 3 and Nov. 7.
