Updated: Charges Filed In Arlington Mill Shooting
Arlington County Police charged a juvenile in connection with a shooting incident that left one person injured Wednesday evening.

Updated (Oct. 24, 10:30 p.m.): Detectives from the Homicide/Robbery Unit of the Arlington County Police Department arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with an shooting incident on Wednesday that left another juvenile injured, according to a police release.
ACPD charged the juvenile with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. As per Virginia law, police have not released the name of the individual arrested.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred late Wednesday afternoon in the Arlington Mill area, according to a police release.

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of S. Dinwiddie St., for the report of a shooting. They found a juvenile victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand and began rendering aid. They also learned three suspects had fled the scene before police arrived. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Following a preliminary investigation, police determined the shooting took place around 4:41 p.m., in the 800 block of S. Frederick St. Police were called to the S. Dinwiddie Street address about 25 minutes after the shooting. Based on their investigation, police believe the victim had become involved in a dispute with the suspects, whom he knew. One of the suspects produced a firearm, which discharged, striking the victim's hand. The three suspects fled and the victim left the scene on foot to seek help nearby.
The shooting does not appear to be a random event, according to police, and no known threat to the public currently exists. This remains an active investigation.
