ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County officials and representatives from VDOT and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority broke ground Wednesday on a $19.9 million project to improve bike and pedestrian access at the Boundary Channel Drive and I-395 interchange.

The project, which is financed through county, state and NVTA funding, will reduce underutilized roadway on Boundary Channel Drive to improve bicycle and pedestrian access in the area, according to VDOT.

The project will construct a 12-foot-wide, half-mile shared-access path on the westbound side of the road and an 8-foot-wide sidewalk on the eastbound side.
