2 Assault Of Police Charges Filed Against 18-Year-Old Arlington Woman
An Arlington woman faces multiple assault charges, including two counts of assaulting police, following a bike theft in Douglas Park area.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested an 18-year-old Arlington woman on Sunday night in connection two assaults and a malicious wound in the Douglas Park area.
Police were summoned around 7:15 p.m. to the 1700 block of S. Walter Reed Drive for the report of a burglary in progress. They determined that a woman entered the victims' home, argued with one of the victims and stole a bicycle from inside the home. She then rode off on the bicycle.
The second victim followed the woman to 18th Street S. and S. Monroe Street. When the victim approached the woman, she assaulted him, tried to steal his jewelery, damaged a watch and then hit the man with a bottle, according to police.

A witness to the attack tried to intervene, but the woman assaulted them as well. When two officers attempted to detain the woman, she kicked them both, according to police.
The officers arrested the woman, who was identified as Angelita Lopez of Arlington, and charged her with two counts each of assault on police and assault and battery. Lopez faces additional charges, including burglary, destruction of property and attempted robbery. She was held without bond.
