2 Prince George's County Men Charged In Arlington Fatal Shooting

ARLINGTON, VA — Two Prince George's County men have been charged with murder in an June Arlington shooting that killed one man and injured two others.

Authorities say Christopher Rather, 27, of Oxen Hill, Maryland, and Franklin Lambright, 27, of Temple Hills, Maryland, have been charged with murder and are being held in Prince George’s County, Maryland pending extradition back to Virginia. Additional charges are pending, according to a news release.

The Arlington County Police Department identified the deceased victim as Donovan A. Green Jr., 21, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Around 2:39 a.m. on June 28, officers responded for the report of shots being fired and a large crowd dispersing outside a business in the 3000 block of Columbia Pike. The officers learned that two victims had arrived at a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Authorities said after a dispute between multiple parties one of the suspects entered his vehicle and fired shorts in the area of the crowd before fleeing the scene.

As the investigation continued, officers responded to the 3200 block of Columbia Pike, where they found Green inside a vehicle suffering from trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Rather and Lambright were apprehended with help from the Prince George’s County Police Department and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force.
