2019 Carjacking In Arlington Leads To 357-Month Prison Sentence For DC Man

ARLINGTON, VA — Antwain Proctor, 36, of Washington, D.C. received a 357-month prison sentence in federal court Wednesday for a 2019 armed robbery and carjacking that occurred in Arlington, according to a U.S. Department of Justice release.

On Aug. 28, 2019, Proctor and Jovan Doir Johnson stole a vehicle at gunpoint in Arlington, according to court documents. The driver of the vehicle remained in the car with the two men for part of the drive.

Proctor and Johnson then traveled to a 7-Eleven in Lorton. The pair robbed the convenience store at gunpoint, leaving the clerk with a visible injury, according to court documents.

Traveling north on I-95, Proctor and Johnson took Interstate 495 toward the Wilson Bridge.

Several Virginia State Police cruisers tried to stop the stolen vehicle as it neared the bridge, according to court documents. In the process, the stolen vehicle, hit the rear corner of one of the cruisers, causing it to strike the concrete median at a high rate of speed. A second cruiser was able to force the stolen vehicle onto the concrete median before it reached the bridge. A state trooper driving one of the cruisers was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Johnson also received a 357-month prison sentence in federal court on Dec. 2, 2020 in connection with the carjacking.
