5 VA Billionaires Make Forbes's Richest List
Jacqueline Mars is among the 100 richest Americans, according to the 2020 Forbes 400 List released on Tuesday.

VIRGINIA — Forbes estimates that Jacqueline Mars, who owns an estimated one-third of Mars Inc., the world's largest candy maker, is worth $29 billion, making her the richest Virginia resident and among the 100 richest people in America.
She and her siblings John and Forrest Jr. inherited stakes in Mars Inc., when their father died in 1999. John Mars, a Wyoming resident, has an estimated worth of $29 billion. His brother Forrest Jr. died in 2016.
Both Jacqueline and John Mars saw their net worth drop from $29.7 billion to $29 billion over the last year, though they are still tied at 20th on the Forbes list.

Forbes released its 2020 Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans Tuesday, and five Virginia billionaires made the cut.
Virginia resident Pamela Mars is the next highest Virginia resident on the Forbes list. She and her sisters Valerie and Victoria, who live in New York and Pennsylvania, respectively, are tied for 74th place with $7.2 billion each. They are heirs to the Mars Inc. family fortune.

Amazon's Jeff Bezos leads the list with a net worth of $179 billion. Microsoft's Bill Gates is second at $111 billion and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is third at $85 billion.
President Donald Trump landed at No. 339 following a $600 million loss in net worth, Forbes said. He's still worth $2.5 billion.

197. Winifred J. Marquart, $3.9 billion: Marquart is president of the Johnson Family Foundation.
238. Daniel D'Aniello, $3.4 billion: D'Aniello is one of three billionaire founders of private equity firm Carlyle Group.
278. William Conway Jr., $3 billion: Conway is one of three billionaire founders of private equity firm Carlyle Group.
