Aggravated Malicious Wounding Charge Filed In Hit And Run Crash

ARLINGTON, VA — A 33-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with a critical hit-and-run crash that occurred May 23 in the Maywood area.

Officers responded around 7:12 p.m. to the 3300 block of 22nd Street N. for the report of a hit-and-run crash.

A preliminary investigation determined that Ronnell Blakeney of Baltimore was traveling at a high rate of speed as he was making food deliveries in the area when he was approached by a man who criticized his driving. An argument ensued and Blakeney struck the man with his vehicle, seriously injuring hm, according to police. Blakeney then left the scene.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries. Police reported Thursday night that the victim was still hospitalized.

After conducting a critical crash investigation, reviewing crime scene evidence, and intervieing witnesses, detectives identified Blakeney as a suspect in the case and took him into custody on Wednesday. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and felony hit and run. He was then held without bond.
