Alexandria Man Charged After Assault On Officers In Clarendon
An Alexandria man approached a marked cruiser in Clarendon and assaulted officers before being taken into custody, police say.

ARLINGTON, VA — An Alexandria man was arrested after Arlington County police said he assaulted two officers during what the department described as an unprovoked attack in Clarendon early Friday morning.
The Arlington County Police Department’s Patrol Section announced the arrest of Quinton Berry, 26, of Alexandria. Police said Berry was charged with attempt to disarm an officer, vehicle tampering, and two counts each of assault on police and obstruction of justice. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
Just after 3 a.m., two officers were in a marked police vehicle stopped at the traffic light on Wilson Boulevard at North Irving Street when the suspect approached, according to police. The department said the suspect was bloody and agitated, opened the driver’s side door and began assaulting the officer before running away.

Police said the officer in the passenger seat then got out of the vehicle and began chasing the suspect on foot. In the area of North Irving Street and 12th Street North, the suspect ran toward the officer, knocked him to the ground and struggled with him, according to ACPD. During that struggle, police said, the suspect attempted to take control of the officer’s Taser.
“With the assistance of additional arriving officers, the suspect was taken into custody,” the department said in the release. Police said both officers suffered minor injuries and were assessed by medics at the scene.
