ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested an Alexandria woman Sunday night after she bit and scratched police officers who were trying to take her into custody outside a Crystal City business, according to the daily crime report.

Around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 400 block of 23rd Street S. for the report of an assault. Arriving on the scene, they learned that a woman inside the business refused to leave and had struck an employee. Police found the woman inside a vehicle outside, trying to leave the scene. They requested that she place the vehicle in park and exit the vehicle, but she refused and then started yelling and acting disorderly. The woman then exited through the passenger side of the vehicle. When officers tried to detain her, she actively resisted.

With the help of additional offers, police took the woman into custody, but she continued to yell and scratched an officer. As they tried to put her into a transport vehicle, she resisted and bit another officer. While medics examined the woman, she continued to act disorderly and spit on two officers.
