ARLINGTON, VA — The National Landing Business Improvement District celebrated its 20th anniversary at its 2026 annual meeting May 27, marking two decades of work in Crystal City, Pentagon City and Potomac Yard.
The BID, originally established as the Crystal City BID in 2006, also unveiled a refreshed brand identity during the event. The update includes a new logo, color palette, tagline and hummingbird mascot designed by DNCO, according to the organization.
National Landing BID President and Executive Director Tracy Sayegh Gabriel said the anniversary offered a chance to reflect on the area’s growth and look ahead to its next phase.
“The amazing place that National Landing is today is the result of years of planning, building and innovating,” Gabriel said. “As we celebrate 20 years, we’re reflecting on all that’s been achieved in this gold standard of urban revitalization and looking ahead to what comes next.”
Gabriel said National Landing has evolved from a community facing economic challenges after federal workforce reductions into a mixed-use area with a growing residential population, public spaces, major employers and an innovation ecosystem that includes Amazon HQ2 and Virginia Tech.

The BID also highlighted the National Innovation Quarter, or National IQ, which launched earlier this year. The initiative brings together business, government and higher education partners to support collaboration and position the area as a tech hub.
Several people and organizations were recognized during the annual meeting. Kingdon Gould III of Gould Property Company received the President’s Award. Rob Mandle, deputy executive director of the National Landing BID, received the Champion Award. JBG SMITH received the Impact Award. The founding partners of National IQ received the Nexus Award.
Gabriel said the new brand is meant to reflect both National Landing’s economic growth and its sense of place.
“With the physical transformation evident, National Landing needs a brand that stands confidently alongside its commercial and economic narrative while also expressing something distinct — the way this place feels,” Gabriel said. “Our refreshed brand identity reflects why people come to National Landing – opportunity, access, innovation – and why they stay: the feeling of the place itself.”
The BID also pointed to upcoming projects, including the CC2DCA pedestrian bridge, which is planned to connect National Landing directly to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
National Landing includes Crystal City, Pentagon City and Potomac Yard in Arlington.
